KGF: Chapter 2′ had the highest opening day and opening weekend for any Hindi film and was the fastest film to cross the Rs 250 crore mark.

Taran Adarsh, a trade analyst, tweeted: “#KGF2 is still the first choice for moviegoers despite two new titles… Should cross #Dangal in #Eid holidays… (Week 3), Fri 4.25 cr. Sat 7.25 cr. Sun 9.27 cr. Total:? 369.58 cr. #India biz. #Hindi.”

Karan Taurani, Elara Capital trade analyst, spoke to IANS about the money-making action entertainer ‘KGF Chapter 2’. She said that she doesn’t expect to see a collection exceeding Rs 370-380 crores in a lifetime. The film will certainly surpass ‘Dangal’. The cost of ‘Dangal was between Rs 365 and 370 crores. It’s a piece of huge positive news for the industry that ‘Baahubali 2″ was released in 2018, some 4 years ago.

He said, “In a gap between four years, you are seeing the record for ‘Dangal” being broken again. This is also a regional film that is showcasing acceptance of regional content. The Hindi-dubbed version of the content is not something that audiences want to avoid.”

Taurani believes this is “good news” for the industry.

“It’s good news for cinema chains because they have more content to show and there is less dependence on one genre or one type of content.

They have more supply. This will increase the number of audiences that watch Indian films and help to expand the industry. The Indian film industry has grown by 7-8% in the past 10 years …. with the exception of the GST impact, which saw them grow by 15-20%. This is because ticket prices are being revised and collections numbers are rising because of this …. These kinds of surprises will certainly help the film industry grow. This is a big point.

According to boxofficecollection.in, ‘Baahubali 2’ starring Prabhas minted Rs 510.99 crore in Hindi while ‘Dangal’ collected Rs 387.38 crore in its lifetime at the box office.

Taurani says that other Hindi films have crossed the Rs 300 crore mark, including ‘Bajrangi Bahijaan, PK, & ‘Sultan, & ‘Sanju, & ‘Tiger Zinda Hai, ’War, besides ‘Baahubali 2’ and KGF’.

“I believe ‘RRR’ has fallen slightly short.”

The lifetime earnings of Tiger Zinda Hai are Rs 339.16 crore. PK has earned Rs 340.80 million and ‘Sanju’ has earned Rs 81.64 crore.

342.53 crore.

Taurani believes that the earnings from ‘KGF Chapter 2’ will have a positive impact on sentiments.

He said: “A lot of producers are afraid to make big movies because they are not sure if they will do such box-office results. But this type of film makes it clear that producers have a clear mind and there is the potential audience …”.
